EastEnders‘ Cindy Beale receives a huge shock tonight when she becomes the recipient of a spontaneous proposal. Cindy is left stunned as Max Branning decides to get down on one knee at Vicki Fowler and Ross Marshall’s wedding, asking her to marry him.
The pair have only been dating for a few weeks, so what will Cindy make of his drunken gesture?
In last night’s episode, Howie Danes shared his plan to re-propose to Kim Fox, following their recent break-up. Unfortunately, he didn’t get the chance as a family emergency put an end to the party and they rushed to the hospital.
Tonight, Howie explains to Kim that he had planned a “surprise” for her during the flash mob, but when he tries to show her the ring, he realises he has left it in the marquee. Instead, the pair share a sweet moment in the waiting room, with Kim accepting Howie’s proposal.
Meanwhile, back at the wedding reception, Max is furious with Lauren for siding with Mark Fowler over him, branding her a “traitor”. When he tells her she has a “screw loose”, she retaliates by questioning his relationship with Cindy.
“I’ve had enough of people thinking they can chip in with their opinions on us,” he says, adding: “In the end, it don’t matter what people say. We’ll always follow our hearts, won’t we?”
Later, Max finds Howie’s jewellery box with the ring inside, and after a quick pep talk from Linda Carter, he gets an idea. Interrupting Vicki’s speech, he grabs the mic and drunkenly addresses the crowd.
“I know that some of you look down your noses at me and Cindy. I am sorry if we live rent-free in your heads, but there you go. I think she’s great. She lights up my life. She makes me laugh. And I’ll tell you what, she’s dynamite in the sack,” he says, as a confused Cindy watches on.
“And that is why, Cindy, you beautiful, crazy diamond… Why don’t you and me get married?”
Max gets down on his knees and presents a horrified Cindy with the ring. But will he get the response he’s expecting?
