SHOCKING NEWS!! EastEnders: 5 huge questions as bombshell week begins in Walford

A pivotal week has just begun in EastEnders and if Monday’s (1 June) episode is anything to go by, Walford is heading for one of its most dramatic stretches in recent soap history. The BBC soap’s much-publicised “Week That Changes Everything” got off to a devastating start when young Jordan Fox was left fighting for his life following a shock accident. But the heartbreaking cliffhanger was only one piece of a much wider puzzle.

Elsewhere, Denise Fox was forced to confront the terrifying reality of her recent cancer diagnosis, Ian Beale found himself at the centre of another nightmare, and several simmering relationships looked poised to move to the next level.

With wedding celebrations turning into chaos and multiple storylines reaching a boiling point, viewers have been left with plenty of questions ahead of the next episode as things are set to go brutally awry, while one concern still remains: will Denise receive urgent treatment for her cancer like suggested?

The biggest shock of the night came in the closing moments when Jordan Fox was struck by Ian Beale’s car. Jordan had been briefly left in the care of Josh while his mother Chelsea enjoyed some time away from parenting duties during Vicki and Ross’s wedding celebrations.

Chelsea also spent time with Zack, letting their long-running chemistry resurface. However, the mood dramatically changed when Jordan wandered back to Chelsea unnoticed. After becoming frustrated with her son, Chelsea sent him off, unaware that he was walking directly into danger. Moments later, Jordan stepped behind Ian’s moving car just as Ian was preparing to drive away with his tipsy mother Kathy.

To make matters worse, neither Ian nor Kathy realised what had happened. Convinced they’d simply hit a bump, they left the scene while Jordan lay motionless on the road. The episode ended before viewers could learn the full extent of his injuries, leaving Jordan’s fate in the balance.

Jordan’s accident could have enormous repercussions on Ian. Although the businessman remains unaware of exactly what happened, that ignorance may not last long. Upcoming scenes suggest that Ian and Kathy receive an unexpected visit from police officers investigating the accident.

As more details emerge, Ian begins connecting the dots and starts to fear the truth. If it becomes clear that his car was involved, Ian could face serious consequences. The situation is made even more complicated by Kathy’s presence in the passenger seat – but the real question is what Ian will do once he realises the truth.

Long-term viewers will know that Ian has been known to make questionable decisions in the past and this could easily become another defining moment for his character.

Are Lauren and Mark about to act on their attraction?

Away from the tragedy, another storyline quietly gathered momentum. Lauren Branning and Mark Fowler have spent weeks attempting to ignore the connection developing between them, particularly after Lauren became uncomfortable with Mark’s dodgy dealings.

Yet despite their efforts to create distance, the attraction between them appears stronger than ever. Monday’s episode saw Mark trying to move by chatting with Chelsea at the wedding reception. However, the conversation was cut short by Zack, pushing Mark back into Lauren’s orbit.

The pair only shared a handful of scenes, but their lingering looks spoke volumes. Even while dancing with husband Peter Beale later in the episode, Lauren appeared distracted when Mark was nearby.

Not every storyline this week revolves around tragedy. Howie arrived at the wedding carrying a secret of his own: a dazzling ring. The jewellery immediately sparked questions among his friends, who quickly wondered whether he was planning to propose to Kim Fox.

Howie and Kim have already experienced one failed engagement after secrets and trust issues drove them apart. Although they eventually reconciled and rebuilt their relationship, uncertainty remains over whether marriage is truly back on the agenda.

Alfie encouraged Howie to take the plunge, but he appeared far from certain. As the celebrations continued, he was seen staring at the ring and weighing up his options. With emotions running high and family life becoming increasingly unpredictable, could Howie decide it’s time for a lifelong commitment to Kim? Or will recent events convince him to wait?

 

Did Kat and Alfie poison the wedding guests?

Harvey Monroe spent much of the wedding reception battling increasingly uncomfortable digestive issues after helping himself to the buffet, catered by Kat and Alfie. Unfortunately for the couple, they had already discovered a worrying problem with the frozen prawns they were serving.

After noticing a hole in the packaging, Kat became convinced something had gone wrong. When Harvey started suffering embarrassing symptoms, she immediately feared the worst. So far, Harvey appears to be the only victim. But if the prawns were contaminated, there is every chance more wedding guests could begin falling ill – is trouble ahead for Kat and Alfie?
